Since we began, the Faculty of Engineering has been on the frontier of research and innovation. We educate outstanding engineers who help make projects work. The Faculty of Engineering builds on the strengths of our professors, our students, and our industry partners. This is the team we depend on to make education work. We are driven by curiosity and the need to make a difference in shaping our world. Our Faculty is educating the engineers of the future—problem-solvers who strive to move beyond routine application to inspired innovation.

The mission of the Faculty of Engineering, which has remained virtually unchanged since our beginnings, is: to produce engineering graduates of choice for employers and postgraduate schools and to produce graduates who can carry out forefront engineering design and research, to produce nationally and internationally recognized engineering research, to provide high-quality service to the engineering profession and the external community.

What do engineers do?

Today's engineers are employed as designers, researchers, physicians, managers, business developers, astronauts, manufacturers, lawyers, engineering consultants and urban planners, just to name a few.  Practicing engineers solve problems that better society and save lives.

Development of medicines and medical applications, improving the environment, designing safe facilities, developing new machines, improving wireless communications, space technology - these are all examples of areas in which engineers play leading roles.

The program involves critical thinking skills, diversity of scholarly opportunity, engaging in the highest standards of professionalism, real-life problem solving - actually making a difference - all these open the door to opportunity.
